I have a suggestion that may help board members posts-
Whenever you are responding to a post ~ especially those that are requesting items for a charity etc ~ please post something on that post. For example - if you are sending something to help the cause and answered thru a pm (which is necessary) also put a quick note on that post so it stays current. This way the post can stay current so the need can be met. Also those receiving items for a charitable cause, please accept only as much as you need. This way, there will be enough to go around for others in need. Also please keep us posted with pictures etc so we can see that what we donated is actually being put to good use!!! I for one enjoy being a part of this process and have donated regularly but I do like to see end results. Don't get me wrong ~ I am a very trusting soul and I will continue to donate. I trust all that I do donate is going to that cause. As a side note ~ I dont mean this to be seen as an accusation that members are using this board for their own gains. I DO NOT believe this. I think all posts are legitimate and will continue to feel this way unless I am proven wrong. Thanks for hearing me out ~ Please no negative comments. This is not a slam - just some helpful suggestions. Cheryl  |
I like and agree with your suggestion!!!!!!

Very good suggestion! We love seeing everyone's work...without all the great pictures I would get alot more done each day...lol.

Good idea! The last time I donated I never heard anything back :( Kind of makes me feel like I was getting taken advantage of. Pictures would be awesome

Documenting donations only makes everyone feel warm and fuzzy all over.

Great suggestion Emsgranny. It would be so pleasing to see how the receiver gave new life to some fabric that I had passed along.
|
I've always gotten a thank you, and bluteddi has posted some of her walker bags for vets.

some of the people I sent things to never even told me if they ever got it much less a thank you but there has been enough that have answered for me to continue sending.

I do have a question re: pictures. A couple have donated for my Heart Foundation (CHD) request... We placed the pictures under "pictures" on the board.. Should they have been placed under our "asking for Donations" ??? I understand what you do mean tho, I have in past donated things and didn't even get a thank you or know if items arried till I wrote them... That made me :( BUT the bright side it only happened once. I so enjoyed helping cjomoma, as she posted when I wouldn't have (all I made were the quit tops) lol.... Thanks and many (((hugs)))

I agree... the warm and fuzzy feeling is a good thing!

I have seen your work for cjomomma-you have made a great team!!! She is working tirelessly to get things done and I hope her charity appreciates the time and money she has spent on this worthwhile project!!! Cheryl  :D |

when we force our topics to the front of the line, we are pushing others to the back. we should not cave in to the temptation to bump our topics in order to serve our own purposes. [we should also not ask our friends to do it for us. ;-) ] each topic should either stay in the spotlight or fade based on genuine interest among the general membership. photos of things made from donated items should go into the Pictures section. |
As possibly the greatest sinner in this process, I appologize. I will keep my donation requests updated and post at least once a week. I am so sorry If you will give me a couple of days, I'll update all three donation threads I started for comfort quilts.
This is a good idea and I stand corrected about my behavior. The generous quilter who offered to quilt these comfort quilts is not at fault, the quilts are at my home and in my sewing room. I will do better. Thank you for a great suggestion |
