Just wondering

When making a Bow Tuck, has anyone tried sewing velcro just along the inside of the top so it closes? I was thinking about doing this but wondered if anyone had tried and what the outcome was.

I haven't done this but I don't like Velcro so I wouldn't use it. I hate the sound it makes! Someone on here did a zipper on theirs but I usually just go with the magnetic snaps or the button closure. I would say try it and see how you like it. These bags are very easy to individualize! Love making them.

I have velcro as the closure on a purse ....... it works, but I hate it!
It never lines up straight, so the purse looks kind of disproportioned.
And the handles on the two sides are out of alignment.
Yes, I could take the time and create the alignment ... I don't like that fuss!
The hooks sometimes catch into sweaters I am wearing or silk scarves (when it's overstuffed and being used more as a tote.
I don't like the rrrrrrripppping sound either .... I can't sneak into my purse easily!!! :)

The last purse I made, I used magnets. And that's what I'll use in the future.
Just be sure to get the super-magnets as you don't need them to be very big and oh my gosh are they powerful!

As AtHomeNow said, try it for yourself.
It does work well ... just not what I like.

I really like the magnet closures. They are easy to put in and line up, I have used them on many bags with success. They are much better that velcro im my opinion.

I find I don't even have to line them up ... they just find each other! :)

I'd probably go with the snap closures where you use metal measuring tapes cut with ends covered; they close all on their own. I have one bag that I make and I really like it.

I use the magnetic snap closures!

I did a small (button size) velcro closure on my first Bow Tuck bag and it worked just fine. You have to hand sew it on after you sew the lining to the bag, but before you close up the bottom opening of the lining. That is the only way you can ensure that the two sides line up properly.

Sounds like the magnets are the way to go. Thanks for all the input.
