No I don't.
|
I do just because it interests me to know how much time I have spent on a project. I work full time, so I like to keep track of my leisure time when I make something, but it's just for my information.
|
I keep track, not in minutes but in days it take for me to get it ready.
|
I was a consultant/CPA in my work life and intensely disliked tracking my time... I shudder to even think of tracking time on my hobby.

When we make charity quilts for our guild we are supposed to report the number of hours spent. I believe this helps the guild maintain its status as a charity for tax purposes. I have trouble remembering to keep track because I've never paid attention when doing them for other reasons. It surprises me, however, to see how much time is involved because when I'm enjoying myself time goes fast.
I'm currently working on a lap quilt that another member of the guild cut and made into a kit. All I did so far was decide which order to arrange the blocks (bricks) for this very simple top and then sew them together. There are 10 rows of 6 1/2 bricks each and sewing and ironing the seams took almost 3 hours. It seems like nothing to me, but now there is the sandwiching, quilting and binding to do. It will be interesting to see just how much time this little quilt involves, keeping in mind that someone else has already invested quite a bit of time in it, too. |
Not yet. It took 11 months to finish the last one, but I work and took a class and had to live during that time. I would love to know how many actual hours it take me to complete a quilt (I hand quilt), but I too get up put in laundry, take a break on the computer, make a phone call, put on dinner, pay bills, etc. in between quilting. Not disciplined enough to actually log the time in and out.

i have kept track on the hours and how much money was inested in a quilt that i was going to sell

My DH and I were gifted a beautiful quilt 5 yrs ago for our wedding anniversary and the hours spent in the quilt were shared within the gift card and, to me, it made the gift even more special that someone would spend so much time to prepare a special gift for us... therefore, I intend to keep track of the time it takes me to quilt items I hope to gift to someone.

I'm working on several quilts in various stages of completion, so no I don't count how many hours it takes me.

I tried keeping a record of hours for one quilt. After 500 hours, I gave up! Now I keep a record of time by the number of months.
