Has there been any tutorials for the kalaidoscope pattern? I would like to try that but have not seen anything on it. Is it hard? As I really can't remember anyone posting any finished piece done like that. Is there any site that might give directions? Thanks for any input.

I woul recommend that you get one of the books, either One Block Wonders by Maxine Rosenthal, or Stack & Whack by Bethany Reynolds. They look very different, so you need to decide which one you like best. To see examples of both, use the Search function.

It depends on what type of kaleidoscope you want to do. There are simple ones and than there are very complex ones like Paula Nadelstern make. I have made both and enjoyed them. If you want to do the kind that uses the Kaleido ruler the secret is to sew from the outside to the middle. If you want to do Paula Nadelstern, have lots of patience. Here is a picture of one I did. It is about 27" square and has over 300 pieces. If you've never seen a Paula Nadelstern, google her and look at those on her website. They are incredible!

Hi our own Rhonda has a tute and it is wonderful... I have made one... Sorry to say,not because I don't want to just haven't been able to focus on something that has to be so precise to come out right. SIGH!!! But one day soon... I had fun making this and really want to continue using same material. Don't think I will be able to use same look but I do love the colors and it is so happy and bright looking.. Here is a picture of my one and only but not the last one. BillsBonBon

where do you find Rhondas tut? I tried search and several other sites and the only thing I could find was where you had to order the CD for 29.95.

I go into a lot more detail in the book but you can learn the basics pretty easily.

I have a small size template in the book and the size template for an 8" across Dresden Kaleidoscope.

My method is a combination of a kaleidoscope and a dresden plate. There are a few sites online where you can find this idea but I tried to make it easy to understand and follow the steps to great looking Dresden Kaleidoscopes.

I also show 3 differant ways to finish the Dresden Ks in the book

I can't use anything I put in the book to teach for free but I can help you with the basics. If you need any help just let me know!

Just wanted to post some WIP, two pictures of Kaleidoscopes Quilts. They are made with the same stratas of fabric but look entirely different! The stratas were also cut at different angles. Tme to quilt now!

Oh my goodness!!!!!!! That is gorgeous! Especially the second one. How on earth did you do that? Is that a pattern? If so, what is the name of it? I have to know how to do that.
