Also, Kona Cotton is a registered trademark of the Robert Kaufman Company, so there is no such thing as a knock off. I read the Company response (someone posted a link to it not too long ago) and was quite pleased with the information they supplied.
I believe the quilting fabrics at Hobby Lobby are first quality fabrics, and the quilting cottons are usually 30% off. There is no Hancock Fabrics convenient to me and the LQSs close before I get home from work on weekdays, so I usually buy at HL or JoAnns. I always "pet" the fabrics before I buy them, and if I don't like the feel or "hand", they stay on the shelf. As always, we, as the consumers, have the final say.

Robert Kaufman does not sell irregulars or seconds. This has been discussed many times here on the board. The Robert Kaufman company has even posted in response. If it is on a bolt with the Robert Kaufman label then it is true Robert Kaufman Kona cotton - first quality no matter where it is sold.

I buy a lot if fabric from Hobby Lobby some of it Kona cotton solids and have always found it to be very good.

I will have to check out HL and Hancock's. Every time I try to make something with Kona solids I have a terrible time finding all the colors I want in the same (on line) store. The shipping costs get ridiculous - not to mention the aggravation of placing an order and then getting a notice that they don't have everything you asked for.

I love the fabrics and prices at Hobby Lobby. I purchased a Kona Color Card and can order my fabrics on-line from HL. I use the color card to pick out the colors I want, and just order them. They have all of the Kona colors available.

Just to clarify, the place feline fanatic and I were talking about for Kona Solids is Hancock's of Paducah, not Hancock Fabrics. They are not the same at all and there has been no mention of Hancock Fabrics in this thread. I have no personal knowledge of Hancock Fabrics even selling Kona Cotton Solids, Kaufman or otherwise.

All the cottons at Hobby Lobby are always 30% off what is marked on the bolt. It isn't a sale price.
|
Just a note to emphasize that there is NO connection between Hancock Fabrics and Hancocks of Paducah. The Paducah store is individually owned and I have always been pleased with what I got there, not so, Hancock Fabrics.
|
Nice to know, however, I don't have a Hobby Lobby close. Oh well, maybe they'll build one around here someday.
