I got Kelsey a little bitty toy Singer sewing machine for her birthday. She loves it but it didn't sew very well, but she did a good job sewing and learned how to sew carefully. (Keep the fingers out of the way of the needle.) So, today I brought home a Janome Sew Mini machine. It's a real machine, with a bobbin just like grandmas. She loves it. Today she started sewing on her first baby doll quilt using my scraps. What fun!!! :D :D :D

Cute little one! How refreshing to see children learn with pleasure! One can tell that all her attention is to what she is doing. Great picture!

How precious! Way to go, Grandma  I just know you two will be sewing up a storm (and I don't mean this week's forecast either!!!)

PamH 07-20-2008 08:13 AM

You are doing a great job Kelsey, and it looks like Grandma is a very good and loving teacher. Make lots of treasured memories together.

Her Janome is just like the Janome hello kitty I got for my GD to learn on. It runs great and I can interchange the feet with my Janome and it uses the same size bobbins. I love it in fact I am taking it on vacation with me to use.

tlrnhi 07-20-2008 08:15 AM

Can you adopt me and buy me a Janome?
But, I want a BIG one! lol

Way to go Kelsey...the first thing that struck me also was her concentration, and just look how careful she is at placing her fingers well away from the needle...great induction taking place here!!

Would love to see her first creation, please post lots of progress pictures :D

Another quilter in the making. She'll love this time she spends with Grandma.

littlehud 07-20-2008 06:30 PM

Kelsey is 5. She lives with me (so does her mommy). Today was my day off so as usual she came and got me up. Usually her first question is whats for breakfast. Today it was "Can I please sew now." I have created a monster. LOL. We had to go to the fabric store to got material to put in her own tote. Can you tell how much I am loving this. :D :D :D

jbsstrawberry 07-20-2008 10:21 PM

mamatobugboo 07-25-2008 06:06 AM

i picked up a janoma gem for my daughter when "my" quilt shop closed down a few years ago - and have made a date FINALLY with my daughter to have a sewing day next week so she can make something on her own machine - she has sewn on mine alittle bit, but thought it would be nice to set her up on her own!

These pictures of Kelsey are wonderful!
