Kenmore Walking Foot

I have been looking for a Kenmore Walking Foot. Most of the places that I look say the foot will fit Kenmore, Singer, Janome, Brother,Elna etc. How do I know if the foot will fit the feed dogs on my Kenmore. It seems to me that a walking foot would only fit the machine it is made for. Some of the feet also say it fits a 5mm. What does that mean exactly and how would I measure that? I am unfamiliar with measurements in mm only inches.

When I started quilting about 10 years ago I needed a walking foot for my old Penncrest sewing machine. At that time I was able to find a sewing machine repair shop that carried them, didn't even sell new machines. Found this shop in the Yellow Pages and called them. Needed to know if the machine was low-shank or high shank and they told me how to determine that. Went to the shop and bought it. So, I would suggest that you communicate with the company who has them. Whether by phone or email, someone should be able to answer your question exactly, if not move on to the next company until you find an answer.

Kenmores have different needle and presser foot systems. Some have a "left homing" needle, some have a "super-high shank," some use a standard low shank, some have the 5 mm hole in the needle plate, some have one that's a little wider (maybe 8-9 mm). Most rulers and tape measures have centimeter marks on them. There are 10 centimeters in a millimeter.

The walking foot you need depends on which model you have. If you have a super-high shank, I understand there is an adapter to allow it to use a standard low shank foot.

I have an old Kenmore like from the 60's and I have one from 2016, and the good thing is that both are low shank. I use a generic low shank walking foot on the 2016 Kenmore. Yesterday I found a low shank Singer walking foot that I am going to try on the 60's Kenmore.

I somehow have some attachments for a Kenmore that are kinda slant high shank but I don't where I got those from. The Kenmore walking foot that I have is a high shank also

I think that if you know the model number of your Kenmore you can look up what kind of walking foot you need.

Try Allbrands.com. They have great customer service and will be able to determine which foot you need.

go here and type in your model number and it will bring up all of the parts they carry that fit your machine. This is my go to place.
