kids charity quilt patterns

Hello Quilters..........I would appreciate some help in picking simple, colourful, modern type quilt patterns for children. I would like to make some for a local agency. I only get fabric from Connecting Threads and I'm trying to pick from their clearance section to keep the cost down. What would be a decent size to throw on a kids bed............thank you....

Project Linus has free patterns here [scroll down for the quilts]: http://www.projectlinus.org/patterns/

Here are patterns from the Quilts for Kids organization as well...http://www.quiltsforkids.org/patterns/. The kits they supply are the 4 patch and alternating plain block pattern as their 'go to'.

I made this quilt with five charm packs from CT on clearance and some black yardage. It went together fast and was inexpensive to make. It went to Project Linus.

I like simple quilts for baby/children quilts; like the box-in-a-box, rectangles, rows of squares separated by wide strips or simple 3-strip blocks. I don't have any 'official' patterns, but you just make them up as you go to fit the fabrics you find on sale and make the blocks the in the sizes you want. Here are a couple of examples:

Disappearing 9 patch would be a quick and easy pattern. Just google it. Plenty of pictures and free instructions. You can make the blocks any size you want - depending on how much fabric you have.

Nothing beats a strip quilt for simplicity. If you use 16 inch blocks, four across and five down will give you a pretty generous twin sized quilt after adding a four inch border. I don't cut my big blocks into quarters because I like the big blocks. There are all kinds of pictures on Pinterest. froggyintexas

Jeanne, your fun quilts are inspiring and you make it look so simple with your many colorful completions. I'll have to try a scrappy baby quilt using one of your ideas. Thanks for posting your photos.
