Since my Granddaughter did the cutting up of her mothers wash cloths and towels to make a quilt something good came out of it. My Grand daughter and her friends got into the quilting by using paper, crayons and markers. Well they used 2 reams of paper and taped and glued there blocks to the wall in the basement and that wasn't so good! Several of the mothers who live in there neighborhood got interested in learning how to quilt and the big shock is my daughter in law wants to learn to! This past Saturday we had our first meeting and we had so much fun. We went shopping for fabric and all the things that we needed for quilting. The girls got into a spat over fabric, that you can't use the same fabric as I am! After shopping we went to Micdonalds and headed back to start our quilting. Our group is 9 adults and 8 kids and we call our group Saturday morning quilters.

Way to go. What a fun Saturday. I would love to join you all (the commute is a deal breaker). Every Saturday morning I'll be thinking of you.

The kids are between the age 6 and 7 and they love to make things. I am so glad that the mothers decided to join in and learn quilting as well. Gotta keep the quilting craft going with the generations.

sure wish there was something like that where i live, i have no friends near that like to do quilting, just my mother in law. (and we live with her for the time being.) my 12 year old got a sewing machine for christmas two years ago, she loves to sew, too bad it is in storage until we can get a house :O(

I know how it feels when you have to put all your stuff in storage for a while and live with family. I missed my quilting and other crafts. Our landlord defaulted on the house we were living in and it was forclosed on. Now we live in a fair sized appartment but I have my quilting stuff...stuffed into every closet and corners. I hope we can find another house to live in.

I live in Blaine. We don't live that far from each other. During the summer we go through Elk River every week on our way to our camper. Would like to meet you sometime.

Did you go to Cottage Quilts or some where in St. Cloud for your fabric? And where do you meet for your Saturday quilting?
It doesn't sound like you have alot of room where you're living.

This is great to get kids to sew and quilt. I have even had the handicapped kids at school make quilts. Each doing what they could do at each ablilty level. Some thread needles, some sew on machines, some tied the quilt and some were in charge of telling us where to put the ties or if we left threads. We had a blast and they put it in the school Art show. They were so proud of their quilt !!! The parents and the community was thrilled with their work!!! It was fun!!!

I use to live in Blaine to for many years. It would be nice to meet with you. The Saturday quilting that we are doing it is for the kids in the neighborhood were my Son and Daughter in law live in Big lake. These kids are quite hyper and a handfull for 6 and 7 year olds!
I do go up to St Cloud now and again as they have many good quilting stores to shop at. I have many places that I do go to as well.
