I have been given a king size log cabin pieced quilt top. The blocks go together to form several very large designs. How should I machine quilt this top? I don't think I want to ditch in the ditch, the strips are pretty narrow and wouldn't that ruin the larger overall design? Ditto for stitching around the squares. Do I just do a overall meandaring type of stitching? This will be my first bed size quilt. Thanks in advance for your advice.

It really is your call. If you go with the ditch, you still don't have to do EVERY ditch. How far apart you quilt, as always, may be influenced by the batting you select. I would probably do a meander, but that's me.

I would do a meander or loops. IMHO

My LA quilter did a large meander on m LC for the reasons mentioned.A LC makes so much patten, the quilting is secondary. JMO

I would do a meander. What kind could be dependant on the fabrics used.

I agree-a meander or loopy pattern. Easier to do than SID and I think the contrast of angles and curvy looks good together. My machine does this wavy line & I think that I would use that if I were doing one.
