King Tut in bobbin on long arm

Has anyone used King Tut on top and in the bobbin? Customer wants colorful front and back and the backing is black. Is it possible to adjust tension?

Getting proper tension with the thread you want to use top and in the bobbin before starting the quilt is something I was taught when I bought my long arm. You can use any thread you wish to as long as your machine likes it.

King Tut is 40 weight. I have 2 bobbin cases for my long arm. One I use for a 60 or 70 wt thin thread, and the other I have set for 40 weight. You will have to adjust your bobbin tension if you have it set for a light weight thread. make teeny tiny adjustments! If you don't have a bobbin tension gauge, this is a good way to check:

I love king tut thread and adjust my top and bobbin tension accordingy, my machine is not too picky with threads, I just make sure to adjust the tension accordingly. If you have not invested in a TOWA tension gauge I highly recommend one, they prove invaluable IMHO when longarming. I also recommend visiting superior threads website for additional info on tension, needles and thread, a wealth of information can be found there!!

Yes you can use the same thread in top and bobbin. Pre fill several bobbins.

When I do pantograph quilting I will use one bobbin per row. I would rather waste a bit of left over bobbin thread than have to run out of thread in the middle of a row and have to un thread and knot and bury threads before continuing. i like to keep things as simple as possible.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but I thought I'd put my thought in here. You don't say if the thread is variegated, or not,(to me king tut means variegated). If it is, so fine variegated is the same as king tut variegated in color.

well I posted, but I came back to add my name and the whole post was deleted. So I'll say again that you did not say if the king tut is variegated (to me king tut means variegated). If so, So Fine variegated is the same as king tut variegated in color. Jan

King Tut does come in solids and it is nice to know there is an alternative.

Adjusting the bobbin tension was always hard for me -- until I found the Towa Bobbin Tension Gauge. It solved all my problems and I can use any thread in my bobbin.
