King Tut Thread - In search of

I have recently found out that my sewing machine, Laura Ashley Innovis 2000, is thread sensitive. Drats! It seems to like King Tut thread which is so much more expensive than Connecting Threads.

Does anyone have a good source for King Tut thread? You guys are such an awesome resource.

I get my King Tut directly from Superior Threads. I belong to their King Tut thread club and I have just about every color.

King Tut ia a Superior Threads product found in many different places for machine quilting - not piecing!

Why can't it be used for piecing? I didn't realize that.

King Tut is a 40wt cotton thread. It is normally used for LA quilting. Is your Innovis a sewing machine or an embroidery machine? Embroidery machines use 40wt. I would think it would be a little heavy for piecing. Most piecing thread is 50wt or 60wt. You might want to put that machine on a "diet"! However, I use King Tut on my LA and found Sew Thankful to have a good price on it. It's 17 something. That's where I order. That's a large cone. Try Bottom Line in your bobbin. I use it on all my machines.

If your machine is finicky (like my Janome), try Aurafil. King Tut would be too thick and too expensive for piecing and I'm sure there are other reasons (JMHO) and Aurafil is about the same quality, but much more affordable. Good Luck on your search. BTW Sew Thankful is about the cheapest for the King Tut Thread.
