In Traverse City, you'll find Quilt N' Bee, north to M 72 to Renee's House of Quilts - just off US31/M72 corner, North to Charlevoix to Hearts to Holly, East to a great one in East Jordan (Quilt Cottage? i forget name) , oh yes, we skipped Cousins in Bellaire. There's NO shortage of places. Enjoy! Honk as you pass thru Elk Rapids.

I was just in the U.P. this weekend :) There is a cute little place in Paradise, MI near Taquamenon Falls!

Thanks much one and all for the advice. We leave on Thursday this week and will be staying in St. Ignace. I have been to the one in Paradise before; it's incredibly quaint and I loved it the last time I was there. We'll be taking the Toonerville Trolley on Saturday, then the ferry ride to the falls and back again. I doubt the quilt shop will be open before and/or after we go on our train/boat rides. But DH says we may go on Friday ... he's a man after my own heart!

I will take a printout of the suggestions and see where it leads us .... I think he'll be happy if I promise to make him another quilt (the first top I made him is at the machine quilter's place waiting its turn to be quilted).
