Koala Cabinet Model and Insert for Janome MC 6600
 

I just got a used Koala cabinet.... not the instruction manual. I've searched all over the dang thing and can't find a model number. I need to get an insert for my Janome MC 6600... So, I need to know the model, but I'd also love feedback on the best place to buy an insert!! I've attached 2 (darkish) pictures of the 2 pieces to the table. Thanks in advance, Byrdie.

Send these pictures to the company's website and ask them. I bought a table from them and have been very pleased with their customer service. Even though I bought mine through my LQS, I don't believe you can buy "parts" (or even the whole tables) from anyone but the company.

Measure the opening and e-mail the company. You can also 'google' sewing machine inserts and several places come up where you can buy them.

Yours seems to be identical to mine except for the color. Does it also have the table that folds down in the back?

This one looks just like mine except it's the reverse version. I thought mine was called an "outback"

I have a Koala cabinet and wanted an insert for it. I ordered it through the Koala company, and when it came, it did not fit my cabinet. Apparently my cabinet was manufactured before the company was sold to an American company. The measurements of my cabinet are Australian measurements, and the company has changed the measurements to American measurements. (Does that make sense?!!)

Anyways, Koala ended up sending me a plastic see-through insert that works fine; however, I pre-paid $150, expecting a (fake) teakwood insert that would match my cabinet. I have since seen the same plastic insert available online for less than half the price.

My advice is to be careful if you go through Koala; make sure they know it is an older model and may have differing measurements. If they want to sell you a plastic insert, do your homework, for you may be able to order it for a lot less money. I LOVE my cabinet; I'm just not real happy with the people I dealt with to get the problems resolved.

It looks like an Outback. I suggest that you just measure the cutout where the machine would go, and give the model name and number etc of your sewing machine and buy your insert from an online company. I have the same model in a different color, and I have to suggest to you that when you flip the quilting 'table' up that is in the back of your cabinet, you also put a table of the same height to the left of it (as you face the cabinet front) since this cabinet has been designed in such a way that less than 1/2 of the flip up 'table' is actually usable when you're quilting because of the position of the machine, and your quilt will keep slipping off the 'flip up table' as you sew. This causes a lot of problems while you are trying to move your quilt around as you quilt. You have to keep hauling the quilt back up onto the flip up 'table'. So to save yourself a lot of work and exasperation, place a table next to the flip up to hold the quilt so it won't hang off and create problems for you while quilting.
