Which Kona Cotton for cool blue tone gray?
I would really like to stock up on some Kona cotton with the (ending soon!) fabric.com promo.
I am looking for a cool blue tone gray. I cannot rely on my monitor. I've checked those pieces that I currenty have, and their online representations are totally off! Can someone here advise me which is a blue tone gray? I think to describe colors online, words do more than images! Thanks:) I am looking at the wiki page on shades of gray, and I wonder if the Kona cotton shades correspond to the descriptions there? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shades_of_gray |
It looks like the color Iron might be the one for you. I found it in the Hancocks of Paducah catalog.

Thanks QuiltingVagabond!
I just went to fabric.com to check. All the greys are Out of Stock! Grey must be really in demand, esp with modern quilters. I guess I procastinated too much, never mind, next time then :) |
You may actually have been very lucky. Iron is much more blue than grey. A color card (less than $20) is most reliable of course, but without one I'd trust the Kaufman site to be the most trustworthy for color representations.

Hancock's of Paducah. $19.98. http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/Item--i-KC-CARD
They also have excellent standard prices on Kona Solids with quantity discounts. If you buy a half yard, it's $5.98/yd; if you buy a full yard, it's $5.38/yd; and if you buy a yard and a half or more, it's $4.78/yd...plus they carry all the colors. |
Thks. Do you know how big the color card folds into for shipping?
I am outside US. I have to consider shipping costs. |
I don't know the size, no, but HoP ships by cost of item and shipping to Panama for an order costing $0-$59.99 would be $15.00. It would take 4-6 weeks and be via FedEx International. Does that help?

http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/content--id-14 I do have a Miami street address. My mail forwarder collects it at Miami and sends it over to Panama. The private mail forwarding companies are quite reliable, it is just that they charge by the gram. Or I can wait till someones goes over to US and be my personal courier :) |
Send a PM to Favorite Fabrics. I know she has the old card (pre-April 2012) and may have the new one. She could give you the measurements/weight. Or email HoP directly and ask them. They've always been very helpful whenever I've asked odd questions of them. :)
