LA nightmare

Has anything like this ever happened to you? I was doing a quilt for a good customer when I noticed a good sized blotch of ugly colors on it. I had checked it over before I put in on my LA so I just knew I had accidently done something. I worked so hard to get it out and only made a little improvement. So as a last resort, I used my fabric pens and did my best to make the blotch blend in. I finished the quilt and had it folded neatly with her name and how much the bill was on it so when she came to pick it up and I was not at home my husband gave it to her.
I flipped when I learned that she had the quilt and I did not have a chance to tell her what happened to it. I phoned her to confess and instead she was falling all over herself because I had been able to get all the blotched mess out of her quilt. Seems her granddaughter had VERY dirty hands and tried to finger paint on the quilt. Seems I just didn't see the mess when I first checked her quilt over. I was so relieved that I cried.

Bless your heart! I know you were relieved, and yes, the tears do come at a time like that! It's all that stress coming out that you were holding in! Glad your story had a happy ending! :)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh ... that was so sweet of you to try to fix the mess ... even though you didn't know how it happened! I know you are her special friend for life! What a great story!

It means that you truly care. It's important to let your customer know when things go amiss. It's not always easy.

After reading about some of the mistakes that LA quilters make and won't 'fess up to, it's refreshing to hear that you were willing to tell the client about the "mess". Bless your heart for being such an honest gal!

I always have my heart in my throat when I LA for someone as I'm afraid I will tear it or make a major goof.

what a great outcome!

Ah I love a Happy Ending! It's no wonder you cried with relief... and no wonder your customer was ecstatic!

I am so happy that ended up nicely. As a customer I would have been heart broken if a quilt I sent to someone ended up with a mess on it. It was really great that you were able to get it out - and you probably made a customer for life out of her :) I am sure she will spread the news of how you went above and beyond... good news travels fast :)
