Label for donated wall hanging
What should be on there? I pieced it, finished it. LA quilted it. This is to be donated to the Elkhart County Dahlia group and somehow given away ion Sept. when the regional meeting comes to Northern Indiana.
The date of donation? |
My thought:
Name of Quilt: Donated to and date: Made by: Quilted by: |

Mine would look more like:
Elkhart County Dahlia Group "name of quilt" date Pieced by / Quilted by (that is very important beyond just regular documentation-- you guys in particular deserve recognition even if the group doesn't understand or recognize) and then maybe a little quilt/flower quote of some sort. I'm a closet Barney fan and would probably do something based on "inch by inch and row by row that's the way the garden (and quilts) grows!" |
This is my first label. My neighbor helped me fit the wording on paper, then we typed the words directly on the cloth label. I dry ironed (pressed) it, turned the edges under and pressed that. My neighbor will hand stitch the label on the back of the quilt today., Whew....it is done.

When our group makes quilts to donate, we usually just put the name of the group on the label. And maybe the date.

This little phrase is part of a John Denver song also sung by Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie and others. It is attributed to David Mallette but his recording and book were dated after the other performers. Check to see if it is public domain. We want to give credit where credit is due. |
