When you design and piece a quilt, and have it quilted by someone else, what do you put on the label? "made by mbunny"? "designed by mbunny"? Do you explicitly acknowledge the quilter?

MBunny, I haven't sent any of mine out, but if I did, I'd absolutely put that on the label.

Things that go on my labels:
- name of the quilt
- source of the pattern (or original design)
- date completed
- who the quilt was for
- if the quilt was for a special event (graduation, birth, wedding, comfort, etc)
- my name, town, province

Here's what I'd do:

quilt name
date completed
designed and pieced by (name)
quilted by (name)

I would put their name on the label too.

I have finished all my own quilts, but if I had someone else do the quilting by me then I would definitely give them the recognition they so rightly deserve.

I print a separate label for my longarmer's work that says "machine quilted by xxx" and has her town, state and web address. The label design is her business card layout. I sew her label directly under mine. She's a good friend and this arrangement works very well for us.

Along with a name for the quilt, my name, date completed, I also put the number of the project. For example, my last project was the 14th quilting project I have completed. I don't know why I do this, but I started it with project #2 and have just continued it. Maybe I do it so that in 20 years when I can no longer remember who I am or where I live, at least I'll be able to tell someone how many quilting projects I completed.

I would include the name of the quilter too :D:D:D

I just made a label and put pieced by and machine quilted by on the label.

I spent part of yesterday at the Quilt Show at the NC Quilt Symposium in Charlotte - and all the show labels acknowledged who did the quilting (as I'm sure they must) so it makes sense to me to include the name of the person who does the quilting. I did see a few names of the long-arm quilters over and over in the show.

This was my first time at a quilt show and it was both inspiring and reassuring.

Cheers, K
