Labeling rulers

I have return address stickers on my rulers so they won't get "lost" when I go to classes but they are always in the wrong place when I get ready to cut fabric! Where's the best place to put my label?

I have seen clear address labels. You might try them.

I use clear tape and just write my last name on them. It doesn't interfere much with being able to see thru them.

You might try a bit of red nail polish around or inside the hanging hole?

At a stationery store I have found clear labels with common first names preprinted. I bought a sheet with perhaps a dozen labels on it. I just took a look on ebay there are lots.

I etched a "K " in front of the word Omnigrid so it doesn't interfere with viewing the lines.... bought the etcher to put ID on tools years ago.... so decided my quilting "tools" would benefit from that too.

I cut the address label to show only my name. It then is a tiny narrow strip that doesn't interfere when placed over the quilt logo.

I just use a fine line marker and pick a spot in the middle of an inch measurement, usually by the other writing already on the ruler and write my initials. My friend writes out her whole name.

A friend etched with a jewelers tool my name and mobile telephone number on my long arm rulers. Same could be done with the rotary cutting rulers.

I use a label maker with the smallest font available. So far no problems with the line marks on the rulers.

I tie a piece of red thread thru the hole in the ruler. It doesn't make a mark in my ruler, it doesn't get in the way of cutting or measuring, and if for some reason I cut the thread, I always have more thread lying around.

I write my name directly on the ruler with a sharpie.

Aurora 10-12-2018 07:54 AM

I use a clear cartridge in my label maker and my last name in all caps. Also, I don't lend my rulers to just anybody anymore.

KalamaQuilts 10-12-2018 01:40 PM

I use a Pilot gold paint marker

JanieH 10-12-2018 05:05 PM

I write my name on the edge of the ruler - not on the top or bottom but the part in-between.

I don’t take my rulers any place so the only place they’ll get lost st is in my new sewing room

Since I joined a new guild, I haven't had any items go missing at retreats or classes. Whole different class of people and it shows.

I do the same as Onebyone

I’m just stunned that someone would steal a ruler.

I am not sure that stealing is a good term. They all look the same a quick glance and lots of times folks just scoop up what's on the cutting board thinking that they have what is theirs - all the time their ruler is back in a bag.I also mark my rotary cutters and scissors with cell phone Charms - Those too look all the same.
