Lady chosen on "Let's make a Deal"

Saw this lady chosen on "Let's Make a Deal" either on Monday or Tuesday that won some $ on her deal & said she'd spend it on buying fabric for making quilts for "Wounded Warriors"!!! Quilting is still alive & well!!!!

ManiacQuilter2 05-29-2015 10:56 AM

That is terrific. Hope she can write off the value of the fabric on her taxes.

I just happened to walk in and it was on. Saw her too.

Didn't hear where she was from but if out of state, she'll have to pay taxes for that state and California.

Good plan! She'll figure out the taxes!

That is one great plan....The woman on the show must really be a selfless quilter.....A BIG Thank You to her for doing this, and to you for sharing this with us.

That is wonderful! Good for her.

She won $240.00 but when she said she was going to use the money to make wounded warrior quilts, they gave her an additional $60.00.

We appreciate our warriors and also appreciate those who make quilts for them-it is a show of gratitude. I am impressed that she is so selfless and mentioned it on the show. Thank you for sharing the story.

Yes, I saw that too.

What a wonderful thing she is doing. God bless her.

Of course quilting is alive and well. For dollars spent it's the #2 hobby in the US, second only to golf.

I will amend my post, #6 above, to say this: Thank You to all the quilters who give of their time and talent (not to mention the cost involved!) to make quilts for the "Wounded Warriors" and all of our military persons. And to the quilters who quilt for charities of other desitinies, Thank You I want to do some of these quilts, and I just received a kit for the totes for Sadies Dream for a Cure. One day this next week I will start on this.

Yes she can write it off on her taxes as donations. I have done this for 5 years now. Fabric , batting, and time making quilts.

It is growing in popularity all the time...

It's great that both quilting and the Wounded Warrior Project got the exposure on television!
