My daughter came last night to visit for a long quilting week end with me. I am in the process of paper piecing a project and she is over her side of the room with foundation paper, and a yard stick. I went over to see what she was up to and she is marking off 2 1/4 " squares on this paper and making these blocks. She then is cutting up little squares NOT 2 1/2, but 2 1/8. They do not fit in the squares she so carefully measured out. She tells me she is going to sew on the line she drew? WHAT?? That is not even going to catch any fabric. This should be interesting...I will keep you all posted. I will not get much done as I will be watching to see what comes next.

ohhhh noooooo. I give myself a good 1/4" then trim. my motto is 'better to have than to want' & I'd rather trim away a 1/4" than not to have it. Especially paper piecing! STOP HER NOW! LOL

Marking this to see progress of your daughter. Since I am getting old, not very computer savvy and my new cell phone is driving me crazy, my daughters think I am getting dotty. I keep telling them when they are 70 yrs old and I am in my grave, I am going to whisper in their ears, "see I told you so". There is no telling what they will have to learn!

Well let her try it and see what happens, LOL. Either it will work out the way she hopes or it will be a good lesson learned.

We learn by our mistakes. :) Maybe she'll just have a smaller quilt in the end.

I'm watching this. Maybe she has a new and better technique she can share with us.

We sure had fun with this new way. We made a wall hanging and guess what...It is really looking good. We glued all those little squares in their boxes then did a 1/4 in seam down the length and width. It was interesting. It was called Watercolor Landscape Quilts by Cathy Geier.
