Lasagna quilt sizes
Some time back someone posted how many strips you need to make a small one for the regular size you use one jelly roll. Does anyone know how to make the quilt smaller? thanks to my quilting friends.

Just use less strips!
You can calculate to figure out what size you want ...... Each strip is 2-1/2" so will finish at 2" ... and each is approx 40" long. So if you have 30 strips, you'd have 30x40=1200 inches in length. First join end to end would give you a quilt 4" x 600". Of course, you wouldn't finish that quilt!! Next end to end would nbe 8" x 300" and so on!!!! If you don't like the size, then you can fiddle with the number of strips and start all over. And keep in mind this is only approximate ... you will lose inches if you join the strips on the bias, or have off sizes. etc/ |
Thanks for the help. Now to sit down with pencil and paper.

Oh, I just saw a chart about that on some blog the other day. I'll dig around in my favorites & see if I can find it. I remember thinking it was a really handy chart (because I can't seem to figure out how to size my Jelly Roll Races very good).
Here's a site I just found the talks about various sizes ---> http://soooowht.blogspot.com/2012/02...big-jelly.html Also, here are a coupld of old threads from here on the board ---> http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...e-t182440.html http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...g-t181341.html |
There's a big hiccup in the http://soooowht.blogspot.com/2012/02...big-jelly.html website in the instructions for making a larger bed-size quilt using the Jelly Roll Race method. Aside from her figure of "2350" when it should be "2304" (after which, curiously, the math is correct), in the end she states you need "56 jelly rolls" when I think she means "jelly roll STRIPS."
SMALLER JELLY ROLL QUILTS: A woman in our Jelly Roll 1600 workshop used a honey bun roll (40 strips of 1 1/2" wide strips), and her quilt turned out to be about 36x40, a perfect baby quilt size. Truth be told, I cannot recall if she added a narrow border or not, but even without it, it was a great baby quilt! |
What is a lasagne quilt??? Is this another name for Jelly Roll?
