Last BOO BOO to fix on this Block HELP!!

1 Attachment(s)
I finally got the applique block done but it took two weeks before I finally found the grosgrain ribbon for a matching collar. I normally have learned to do applique and then trim down the block. That is where my OOPS is. I should have tape the stitching lines for the snowball corners. Any suggestion on how to simply fix this?? I can only think of two fixes:

1st: take the blanket stitches out, lift the applique up, snowball the block-press it into place and repress the Scotty back leg down and restitch.

2nd: try to applique the snowball corner around the Scotty's back leg.

ANY OTHER suggestion??? Which would be the easiest??? THANKS !! Will be glad to hand this block even if it is a week late. BETTER late than never !!! :)

I personally would leave it alone. Unless I was giving it to another quilter, then I might attempt to fix it. I might do #1. I'm not sure what you mean for #2. Good luck. Btw,it's an adorable block.

I would do #1 if it were mine. He's really cute though!

How about adding a strip of white to the two close sides and then trim to size centering the Scotty more.

I love it just the way it is. Your block has personality. Maybe the scotty is backing away from something he sees in front of him. It is so neat that you matched the applique colors to the other fabric. Good job!

I would do nothing. It's just too cute as it is.

I have to agree. I would leave it the way it is. It is soooo cute!!

I'd leave it alone. Dunster said above maybe he's backing away from something. My first thought was he's just taking his sweet time strolling into the center of the block. Either way he's adorable and unique.

I would either leave it alone or, after stitching the block, applique a bush or flower over the back leg so it looks as if he is emerging from behind a plant. I was going to suggest adding a fire hydrant, but ........

It is cute as is. But if it is bugging you, do #1.

I would re-center the dog, either by moving the applique or ripping the stitching out and adding more fabric on to the edge of the block, and just have the seam line be the stitching line for where the white background meets the green print. Does that make sense? I kinda feel that I'm not explaining what's in my head very clearly.

Have you considered using smaller corner pieces? That way, you'd still have your snowball block without having to move any of the applique.

I should have explain more or referred you to my first thread.

This applique block matches a 9 patch block so the snowball have to match the 2" finished size. It is a block donation and the block size is 6.5. I really LIKE the fire hydrant idea but I doubt if I can find an applique online in time, I saw so many quilter with hand applique and machine embroidered blocks I tried to come up with something special.

THANKS again for all your advice. I so appreciate it !! :)

I love your block it's really cute. I would leave it alone but if it really bothers you, do #1.

That little doggie is so adorable and matches the print so perfectly. Great job.

eparys 06-08-2014 04:29 AM

I agree with the others - I would leave it as is. It is adorable!!

I'd remove the corners and add more white around it to get it centered correctly.
