I just finished this quilt and I'm thinking that the last white border is too narrow. It's finished size will be 2 1/2 which is the size of most of the squares in the blocks. The blocks are 10 inch finished, so I almost made the border 5 inches - but wasn't sure and now I'm not sure if the border is wide enough. So I thought I would ask all of you. Thanks for your help.

I think it's lovely! It showcases those beautiful prairie points!

Dina 07-01-2010 02:55 PM

I agree. It is a beautiful quilt, and the border looks just right.

maryb119 07-01-2010 03:00 PM

Oh my. I guess it's just me. When I finish a quilt I always dislike it. I guess that's what happened again. I just thought it wouldn't happen with this one. LOL!! I really appreciate the help - we have great quilters on this board and I knew I could get some good advis.

That's Beautiful Great Job, size looks fine to me, the border fabric will make it pop. :)

Yup, agree

An overly fat binding might look terrific on this narrow border. Just my thought!

Your quilt is perfect and just precious. I love the fabrics and the prairie points are great.

Pineapple Princess 07-01-2010 03:55 PM

It is wonderful. The first sash is being used up as a pedestal for the prairie points and it is very pretty. I think I would like another sash of your white on white next so it can speak for itself, then your border.
It is great the way you have it if you want to leave it as it is./Regards, Dorothy

Perfect as it is!!!! Beautiful quilt!

Pam 07-01-2010 05:29 PM

This is very pretty and I like the binding fabric. I have never thought about using a binding was not in the body of the quilt, great idea.

franie 07-01-2010 05:31 PM

It looks great. It is like a background for the prairie points. Nice quilt!

mom-6 07-01-2010 05:34 PM

Once you've added the binding I think you will be very happy with it.

sewnsewer2 07-01-2010 05:47 PM

I think it will be fine. I like the binding fabric and the quilt is beautiful!

sueisallaboutquilts 07-01-2010 06:07 PM

We always seem to be harder on ourselves compared to other people's opinions. I almost always dislike a quilt when I finish it for one reason or another, only to end up loving it! Maybe I get tired of it during the process, I don't know.
Your quilt is beautiful AS IS !!! :D

GGquilts 07-01-2010 06:13 PM

I like it and I think once you put your binding on you will love it.

dunster 07-01-2010 06:27 PM

I think it's just perfect. Beautiful quilt.

littlehud 07-01-2010 07:26 PM

It's a pretty quilt. I tend to like the wider borders; ie, 5 inch borders. By the way, where are the quilt shops in Bakersfield? I live in Palmdale and would love to visit a few in Bakersfield. Thanks

No it's not too small. It looks really good, love prairie points. Wow, I love your binding fabric, it will look great.

Andy323 07-02-2010 01:59 AM

the small border sets off those prarie points....once you bind it, you will be very happy! Nice quilt!

ranger 07-02-2010 02:16 AM

I like it the way it is. It is a pretty quilt.

sewcrafty 07-02-2010 04:47 AM

I think its darling!! It'll make the prairie points a really focus.

liwilliams 07-03-2010 05:13 PM

Thanks everyone! I really value your opinions. I did trim up the white border as the edges were a bit off. And yes it's a Done Deal. I'm leaving it that way. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that's hard on my own work.
