What do you think? Borders or no? Thanks for your opinion. |
Sorry its so big. This is the first time I have posted a picture on my kindle.
love the quilt but hard to make the border call without seeing it in its entirety.
I like it. I have not seen DWR with triangular corner bits. I like the effect.
I'd go with a solid border (or 2 or 3) to help give the eye a place to rest from all those beautiful busy prints.
I agree. Need to see entire. But you do have a dark blue. Maybe go with that.

It is beautiful! I always like to add borders. They just seem to top the quilt off. But to help you decide....is it the size you want or does it need to be larger? That can make the decision easier

Thank you, for the complements and suggestions. I will post another picture when I have the top sewn together. I don't have much floor space to show it entirely. The pattern is Metro Rings by Sew kind of wonderful. Its about as close to a double wedding ring as I am going to get. Ha ha!
I had considered the darker blue for a binding, but it might be a good border. Thanks! Gina |
I like it too!
I usually always like a border, frames it.
For me a border to a quilt is like a frame to a picture. So yes I would border it.
Gina, that's so pretty!
Artistic works deserve frames; quilts deserve borders. Just my opinion, of course, but a border will allow the eye to focus on the beauty of the quilt blocks. What about a lighter border with a darker binding? You could pick up on the colors you've used. This is a spectacular quilt!
Is this done by the squares? What is the pattern? Beautiful. Vi

It depends if you want to stay traditional or not necessarily. Adding borders will take away from the curved edges a traditional Double Wedding Ring quilt has. But as with ALL rules, your quilt, your rules!!

What a coincidence! I am almost at the same spot as you are with my Metro Rings quilt, and I was also contemplating whether to border or not. It is the squares on the sides (or half squares) that concern me.
Your quilt is going to be beautiful. Personally I like borders although I have seen many quilts lately without borders that are very pretty too. Just depends on your personal taste. Good luck! Lots of good ideas here.
You go girl. It is awesome. I say it needs border but, then I thnk every quilt needs a borser.
HI it's very nice. As for borders what about the red triangle fabric ? I just started one of these too. What were your thoughts working through the process? Diana
I'm another one that would like to see borders using the red fabric. It certainly makes it pop! Very nice quilt!
I would be tempted to audition the red for a narrow inner border, then do piano keys out of the fabric that is in the rings. Something must be in the air. I have had the templates for the double wedding ring since the stoneage and was just considering starting one this week.
Lovely blocks! As for me, I'd add a border. In a darker color, and not one of the triangles colors. :)

Nice quilt & a great job !!
