Laura Heine steam a seam question
I went to my local quilt shop today and made an impulse purchase to buy a Laura Heine pattern. They cut me 6 yards of steam a seam lite and said that is what I needed not the regular steam a seam. I just got home and was researching Laura Heine's technique and she says not to use the lite. Has anyone used the lite for her projects? $60 worth of steam a seam so I want to make sure it will be ok. Thank you!!!

Interesting! I only use Steam-A-Seam 2 Lite after having nationally known teachers use it in their classes. It's not as stiff as the regular stuff, and I've never had a problem with it.

There are both Steam a Seam Lite and Steam a Seam 2 Lite.
Is what you got double-sided? Meaning peel-off paper on both sides? It should work (but be gentle when repositioning pieces). That would be Steam a Seam 2 Lite. If it's the single-sided product, you won't be able to temporarily stick the pieces, so that can't be used easily for the collage method. That would be Steam a Seam Lite. The "2" in the product name means double-sided sticky. The "Lite" in the product name is the thickness/stiffness of the web. Which did you actually get? Is there peel-away paper on both sides? |
It is the Steam a Seam 2 lite. Thanks for replying!

It took me a little digging to find what she recommended, why she recommended it, and what the differences were between what she recommended and what she did not https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png |
Thanks for your help! I feel better now. :)
