Leadergrips-Pinless attachment

I've been hearing professional and home quilters talking about this method of attaching your quilt sandwich to your longarm frame. It involves additional dowels and plastic clips. It seems frightfully expensive. Does it totally replace the cloth aprons on the frames? I understand these were sold at the Creative Festival last few times but I haven't been for awhile. If I attend it usually costs me more money than I'm comfortable spending.

I use leadergrips. I bought mine from Dusty Farrell when he was at the quilt show in Raleigh. You do need the cloth aprons, with a 3/4" pocket sewn on the edge to hold the dowel. I made a pocket on the edge of my zipper leaders so I have 2 choices.

I use Red Snappers instead. Here's a video of how they work - http://www.quiltsonthecorner.com/red_snappers

I found a video of Dusty and the leadergrips!

I like Dusty Farrell's leadergrips because the grips that go over the dowel rods have lips or wings on both sides. They are easier on my hands than the red snappers. The lips make a flat surface on the top of the grip. They are really nice.

I thought Dusty had his leadergrips on the website, but I don't see them there. I'll have to email and find out where they can be bought.

I took a photo to show you, sometimes a picture is better than words. They are extremely strong and well made.

I don't remember the cost of Dusty's, I'm sorry! I bought a set of his rulers, a DVD and the leadergrips. I only remember the total cost of it all. I should have paid attention! I bought them at a show in Raleigh, NC last month. Dusty and his wife were at the show, they're wonderful people!

Dusty's come with 3 leadergrips, in 2 sizes. Mine were the largest set, enough to do three 12-foot rollers.

My red snappers were 60.00 plus shipping. I believe leader grips are about 100.00. You can find an online store to compare.
