Wow, after looking at the prices of those, I'm glad I saved the glass top when I sold some old end tables. It works great with a light underneath.

I think either one will be an excellent choice. Quality LED light boxes are long lasting tools not gadgets so the price reflects that.

Tailormaid, I originally purchased the Artograph because it worked so well with thick watercolor paper.

I just bought a 17" LED lightbox and it works great. I got it from Amazon for $38. Funny thing is that when the box came my grandson opened it and said you didn't tell me that you needed this. He has one that is double the size of mine

Cotton Mama, are you able to trace applique onto background fabrics on you Artograph? Also, is it useful for putting quilting designs underneath the top and tracing? I have EQ7 and can print out quilting stencil designs and was wondering if it would be useful for that. Thanks so much! Beth

I use an inexpensive Crayola light box which is aimed at kids. Good for tracing for applique.

I made a wood box with plastic top and a piece of paper taped to the back of the plastic . And just got a string of xmas lights and piled them in the box

I have the artograph. It is very bright which is good for dark fabrics. I have had no issues with mine, used for both applique and paperpiecing

I used to work for a micrographics company (think microfiche/microfilm). They had a light box (2ftx4ft) that the switch broke on - it wouldn't turn off. They were going to throw it away. I took it home with me. Still have it, and that's been 20 years ago.

Thank you everyone for all your replies and help! I purchased a Litup LP3 11"x17" from Amazon for $84. It seems very bright and I'm thrilled to have it! I considered going to Dick Blick to buy the same size in an Artograph, but decided in the end to save the extra money. Beth
