As a leftie, I've never had any issues with sewing - at least none that I've noticed. I'm largely self-taught and always sew alone, so chances are, I'm doing lots of stuff in a weird or more difficult way. I've used right-handed scissors for as long as I can remember. And I use the yellow and black Olfa rotary cutter with my left hand, so no problems there.

I wonder if anyone has ever manufactured a "left-handed" sewing machine. I suppose the throat would be on the right side instead of the left. If that existed, I wouldn't even try it. I can learn most things with either my right or left hand, but once I've learned it, it seems nearly impossible to learn it on the other hand. When I try to switch from one hand to the other, I usually just manage to confuse myself.

Whoa!! Perfect solution - My problem with it is that you can't see the blade properly because the screw and the bulky plastic holder are on the right side of the cutter. I've been cutting right-handed with it, in desperation.

Why oh why didn't I think of taking it apart and screwing it on backwards!!
thank you! I love this Board!!!

Generally don't have any problems since I use both hands for many things, though I do cut and sew right handed. Otherwise I am pretty much a lefty. Left handed people are the only ones in their right minds so I'm told, guess I'm kinda "borderline". HA

I normally eat and write left handed, but do everything else right handed. Until the last couple of years when I've developed what the doctors think is chronic tendonitis in my right hand/wrist. I've become way more left handed now than ever. I've always loved that I could use most tools with either hand. It's always come in handy with the rotary cutter. I never have to flip my fabric, just flip the ruler and cut with the other hand! Love it!

Funny I am left handed but I do everything with my right hand. Only a few things have I found that I do left handed but my cutter is for both paws so that helps me out sometimes.

I wasn't even aware there were left-handed cutters-guess it wasn't a problem because I didn't know there should be. . .Of course, like all lefties, I've always had to adjust. When my mom taught my sister to crochet and I wanted to learn, too, she told me she couldn't teach me because I was left-handed. . .so, I taught myself.

Been a lefty all my life, not that my Dad didn't try to change me, it didn't work! ! I have sewn all my life and have little to no problems. Own lots of rotary cutters and my favorite one is by Martelli. They are ergonomically designed for maximum confort, for left or right handed, in several sizes. Take a look at their site: www.martellinotions.com or ourquiltingspace.com

I hope this helps. I don't think you will be disappointed, once you learn how to use them.

If there's a picture, put it in front of a mirror and it should show you the left-handed way. And if you ever take a class, don't stand behind the teacher, stand in front of her.
