Leftover batting

I have 2 huge bags of batting, I hate to throw them in the trash, but what can I do with them?. They are mostly small pieces or strips.

I use them to dust and also on my swiffer. They're great for picking up stray threads and cat hair.

if they are big enough, you can stitch them together to make a small baby quilt or something. I used some once as extra stuffing for a dog bed pillow (a little lumpy, yes, but he didn't complain). we also have long thin straps used as some cushion/protection between rifles in our gun safe. you could probably find some small projects, like little pouches or bags that may need only small batting pieces. just a few thoughts...

How small? Batting can be pieced using a fusible tape, stitched on the machine or whip stitched by hand..search for "how to join patting pieces" for different methods. Try this:

Thanks for your help, it's so hard to part with scraps of anything.

I turn them into placemats or Fun and Done quilts ( 7 or 7 1/2 inch square) Anything smaller than gets tossed.

Placemats, mug rugs, ornaments, all kinds of small projects to choose from— I use some pretty small pieces for ornaments

Our free table at guild has bags of left over batting from the LA members so no one in the guild is without batting scraps. They are usually wide long strips. The LAs say they would be knee deep in batting scraps if they kept them all, they are sick of them. LOL I keep a bag of those but don't keep scraps left from the scraps.

I keep a chunk beside my machine to use as a thread catcher, then I don't feel "guilty" throwing it away, when it is full of threads. :D
