I am sure I'm old enough but only vaguely....teehee....however it's not the Penny part that is baffling me but the Lynne part.....any suggestions?

"Meaning & History:
Lynne, feminine of Lynn. From an English surname which was derived from Welsh llyn "lake." Before the start of the 20th century it was primarily used for boys, but it has since come to be more common for girls. In some cases it may be thought of as a short form of LINDA or names which end in lyn or line."

Oh gosh, here's another one:

"The meaning of "Lynne"
German name

In German, the name Lynne means- Variant of Linda: Snake. Lime tree; linden tree. Can also be a diminutive of any name ending in -linda. Other origins for the name Lynne include - German, English, English, French, Spanish, English. The name Lynne is most often used as a girl name or female name.

Alternate Origins - English, French, Spanish"

I think I'd go with "Lake" myself. Perhaps with a snake swimming in it. And an island with a lime tree in the middle....

Lynne is my oldest sister's name. Her first name is Winona.

If I did a block, I would do an American flag with an Irish calauda on it. I am irish, but I have never been to Ireland. I like the loyalty story of the Irish, and I would make the block to show that my love and loyalty lie with the U.S.A!

I love it! I also love ballooning! can't wait until our festival next month, I crew every year. Been trying to figure how to make a balloon quilt for awhile now. It just never looks right!

I could send you a few hundred pics, but I guess you could just as easily google a few thousand LOL!! My avatar was made from a pic taken of us in the balloon 7th Heaven while we were flying low over a carrot field one beautiful morning in our North County. I added a pond, a couple hills, a barb wire fence around the plowed field, some embroidery, and thread-painted red-winged blackbirds and gondola. The balloon is rip-stop nylon, and the pennants are 3-D, and the crown line is button twine, also 3-D.
Choose a pic you like and just do it! I had a total ball making mine and thinking up ways to improve and embellish it!

I like this idea but I have no idea how to make one up for mine. I'll have to think on this for awhile.

Of course the "sew" part is because I love to sew and the 1096 is the "ten code" for crazy at Reno Police Department. I recently retired after 25 years of being a police dispatcher so I thought using 10-96 fit me pretty well!!

Any one have any ideas?

Sew1096 = Crazy quilter: A very busy quilter with four hands trying to get everything done on a very cluttered sewing table. Maybe an iron, a needle, a rotary cutter, and seam ripper in each hand

alapetitechaise 09-09-2011 04:36 PM

Hmmm, alapetitechaise is the name of the first french restaurant in Paris; first opened in 1680. I can't think of a quilt block for that.
