Hey everyone... Can I use the large (giant) spools of thread on my plain jane machine? Or are they for quilting long arm machines only?

Of course you can. You can use a thread holder or a mug for your spool.

I just did it to sew on a binding on a whole cloth I did for my brother - I put the thread behind my machine and run it up through a tall thread stand that will help keep it form tangling but a coffee mug or plastic glass work just as well just make sure your thread is upright and feeing off the spool and had a little play room but not enough to fall over....

Yes. I even put my small cap-thingee on the spool & just put the large spool over it. keeps it from wiggling.

I use cone thread all of the time. Lots of people say they just put the cone in a jar or whatever, I place mine on a thread stand.

Make sure you get a heavy metal thread stand. The plastic one's tip.
