Lift for sewing caninet

Do any of you know where I could purchase a lift for a pretty heavy machine? I want to convert a desk or table into a sewing machine cabinet.

Haven't tried it, but have it bookmarked in case DH ever gets around to it.

Wow, that's expensive! Their website quote to me (Canadian $) was $243! Yousers! But I suppose the mechanism has to be sturdy - our machines are quite heavy.

Lee Valley carries one too. It's a Canadian company.

looks like it will support a heavier machine than the rockler model.

You can also look for appliance cabinet lifts, but I suspect the price will be comparable.

The Rockler one is a really nice lift. My husband used it for the cabinet he built for me. I suspect the Lee Valley one is similar if not the same one since both are German-made and look very similar in the photos.

Did you notice the second picture? They installed the black singer backwards in the cabinet. :D

No they didn't, they somehow put in a transposed pic of a machine.

Christine, good pickup about the Singer. I was telling my husband and showed him the picture and he said maybe they made a left handed Singer since the word, Singer, reads correctly. Well, I goggled and guess what. They did make some. Always learning something.

My husband is making a cabinet for my new Bernina 880 that weighs 37 pounds. He spent a week tracking down a place that sold lifts for the heavier machines.

He purchased a lift to accommodate up to 75 pounds from Sewingmachineoutlet.com. It's advertised at $550 + $50 for auto stop, but the actual purchase price was $539 with shipping.

The lift was shipped from Fashion Cabinets in Iowa.

My lqs warned that a lesser lift would not hold up with a heavy machine and the machine would eventually start to sink into the cabinet. The lift in my older cabinet was around $250-$300 and it was advised against putting it in the new cabinet due to machine weight.

Hope this helps you.
