In the light of day...

Ever do something really STUPID and hope it's not really as bad "in the light of day?" Late last night I was cutting out templates...getting tired...too much stuff in my way...decided my cutting mat was too big for what I was cutting, and not remembering WHY you use a cutting mat to begin with...CUT the template on just my table top. Luckily I realized the error of my ways quickly, but...in the light of day, I still have about a three inch slice in my table top!!! I'm hoping DH doesn't notice...I think with a bit of stain and a good buffing it won't show too much. Live and learn!!:)

Whoa!! Try one of those colored fill pencils for wood! I've learned if I'm tired I don't quilt because then I make mistakes.

I try to quilt in the morning instead of late at night because I start doing weird stuff along with making mistakes. Haven't carved my tabletop but I have cut into my fingertip which was very very unpleasant. Gotta remember to take some breaks during quilting marathons!

oh my goodness. my girl friend pin basted a quilt on her lovely dining room table. Her hubby had to refinish it!!

Glad I'm not the only one!! My mat was a wee bit thin in places and you guessed it!! Before I noticed what I had done, there were several cuts on my island counter that was Brand new!! Few tears on that one!

Holy Cow! A lesson learned! When you are tired, back away from the rotary cutter!

I make the dumbest and usually most expensive mistakes when I'm tired and/or trying to do too many things at once. Then I get mad at myself, and rant, then depending on just how tired I am, sometimes I literally cry in frustration. Which usually leads to me hating my dh for a while because he thinks my rants are hilarious, which just makes me madder and I really hate crying for no good reason......which makes it worse. It's a vicious cycle.

Now I don't do anything except sew after 10pm, no cutting, no measuring, nothing that will take more than ripping some stitches to fix.

Light sanding, depending on how deep the cut is you might have to use a couple different grits of sandpaper, just make sure you use at least 120 or higher for last pass, I usually use 180, and some stain will fix the cuts in wood.

Been there done that! That is why I own four different size cutting mats!
