Light for Sewing Machine?
I'm looking for a small, gooseneck style electric light that will stick to the side of my sewing machine, AND that puts out enough light to see by, such as the Ott lights do. My Janome 6600P has LED lights, but they are yellow and don't quite seem to put out enough light for me. DH bought me a small one that runs on batteries, but it has only one LED, so not enough to bother with so I returned it.
Any suggestions? Thanks! |
I was never able to find one that stuck to the side of my machine that I was happy with. They never stuck for good, and the vibration of the machine made the light bounce around. But I did find this one from IKEA that I love. I love it so much I bought 2 more, one for a friend and one as a backup for myself. Lol.

This is the one that I have, and I LOVE it. It is very bright and sticks very nicely to my machine. It is a little bit pricey, but I bought one for $10 that was terrible, couldn't use it it was so dim. Also, don't buy the light brackets separately, I did that and then found that the brackets come with the light already.

I got the bendable light. I think it was well worth the price. I have several machines and just bought additional mounts and move the light from machine to machine. quilting warehouse had the most reasonable price at the time I bought mine. Looks like they have gone up a tiny bit:

I don't have a problem with light at my sewing machine, but I bought two of the Ikea lights like Peckish recommended, but in clip-on form, and put them on my longarm.

I love the little Ikea light. As well as the one I use at my sewing machine, I have one that I point at the ceiling in a very large room for a night light. From the outside it looks as if the entire room is lit up.

I have the same light that Gayle and PaperPrincess have and I love it!! (Well, actually, I tried to find a name on mine and can't find one, but it looks the same and the price is the same.) I don't think you would regret having it. I find that it helps me see so much better.
