Lightest weight batting

I have a purchased quilt that is very light. I'm sure it does not have a cotton bat. I'm thinking that maybe it has a 2 oz poly bat inside, but it doesn't feel like a bonded poly. I really don't want to cut the quilt open to see what's inside yet, but if I get desperate maybe I will. I want to make a quilt with the lightest weight bat, but need some advice!

The thinnest I have used is Theramore. It's super thin polyester

I find Hobbs polydown and Hobbs wool to be very light weight wise. Wool is drapier from the get go. I find the polyfil gets more drapey with use and laundering. I like both. Obviously the polydown is much less expensive than wool so I tend to use that more and save the wool for special quilts.

Flannelette can be used as a batting.

I've used it in quilts and runners/toppers where I want light weight and little bulk.
Post quilting it has a nice hand and drape.

Quilters Dream cotton Request batting is very thin and their products are very nice.

and you can split Hobbs Thermore in half...I love it.

Any chance someone used a silk batting?

Thanks everyone for your advice. I actually have a silk bat on the shelf that I was saving for something "special." Maybe it's time to do that special quilt.

I used this on my last quilt and it was wonderful. I bought 2 other Request batts to have on hand. I really like it.
