I understand there is a new fusible product to back t-shirt squares before sewing them into a quilt. Anyone know the name of it or where I can get it?

I got lightweight fusible interfacing at Joann's, the last time they had it on sale. I got a 10-yard bold for $1.99. I just used it for the t-shirt quilt I am making for DDIL, and it worked great. I had no trouble at all sewing it alongside quilting cotton.

I haven't quilted it yet, still practicing on scraps before going to work on the real thing. However, I'm using scraps from the actual top and the t-shirt part is presenting no difficulty.

Don't know of a new one, but for really soft interfacing, try tricot knit iron-on interfacing. Been around for years as regular sewing product.

Just a hint to go with the tricot iron on. I also use this but make sure your stretch in the tricot goes in the opposite direction as the stretch on the t shirt. Other than that I love how soft this product leaves the "blocks".

The other day I quilted a t-shirt quilt for a customer. Her fusible backing was woven (not tricot and not pellon). It was very soft and made a really nice quilt. She did not remember what kind it was but said she got it at a quilt shop.

Just ask at the cutting desk at Joann's and mention for T shirts...there's a special type I bought there
