The "Craftsy" website is offering a course called "Machine Quilting...free motion & more". Taught by Wendy Butler-Berns, 10 lessons for only $29.99. All done on the computer, you can start, stop and go back as much as you want. I have not heard of this teacher, and have never done an 'on-line' class but do like the idea. Even though I have sewn and quilted for years, I am not that happy with my machine quilting and feel there is always more to learn and understand. Will appreciate your input and coments.

It says $59.99 on my computer.

I bought this class and like it very much. I think she explains things very well. The pinning alone was worth it to me.
|
I just signed up for the class and I got it for $25.00. It gave me a certain time frame that I could sign up for that amount. I love it so far...

Please let us know if you do take it, and how you like it! Good luck, Kif |
I signed up for there e notifications hopefully they will be having a similar deal soon.

I went to the sight again, and there is a 10 lesson class, it is given by Jenny Doan, of the Missouri Quilt Company for $29.99...that may be the one instead of the $59.99...Though I think it is more on quilt piecing, not the actual quilting/free motion quilting...here is the link:

There are 3 quilting classes on the craftsy site..two are for piecing, for beginner and intermediate techniques and another for FMQ which Butler-Burns teaches...I have subscribed to all and have learned a great deal...it works perfect for me as I cannot attend classes that might be given locally...

After signing up for there offers I quickly received a special $25 rate for any of there classes offered, even the $59 class!!!
|
You need to sign up to Craftsy website and then the price will show at 29.99. It is free to sign up. There may be coupons out there also.
|
I would look at http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.c...er-flower.html Leah Day has ton of videos about free motion quilting as well as tons of other tips and ideas. The best part is that it is all free.
|
I have taken both of Jenny Doan's classes and thought it well worth the price. The problem with you tube is that the video's are usually short and sweet. I would like and need more detail which is what I got with the Craftsy site as well as the ability to send in questions and get replies.
Saw the offer for the FMQ and after the various comments of those here who have signed up for it, I think I'll do it. Besides the Craftsy site with the lower price, I also got the special offer from the Fons and Porter site. |
I really like the craftsy classes with Jenny Doan.
Watching Irena Bluhm on TheQuiltingSchool.com was what enabled me to finally "get it," after many hours of drawing feathers on scrap paper and dry erase boards. Once I saw it, the light bulb went on. "Ahhhhhh..... *that's* how it goes!" If you're a visual learner, especially a beginner, this class on craftsy may be exactly what you need to take all the mystery out of this process. That's well worth $30, IMO. If you understand the concepts and the flow of tasks, then all you have to do is practice. :) |
It shows up as 29 on mine. It also says money back guarantee so it might be worth it to check it out and let us know how it went.
|
Do I understand this correctly that you can rewatch the video as often as you like? I might go for this. I'm looking for something to give me some more confidence.
|
I signed up and paid $25.00. It says I can watch and rewatch as many times as I wish... 10 classes at 55 min. What a great bargin!!! Can't wait to start...a friend and I will being doing the class together. The buddy system....($12.50 each)......

You will have created a password and that's what gives you access. |
This is just great. I just watched the first two lessons and already have learnt a few new tricks. This is just the right motivation at the right time. Thanks for posting this link!
