linen fabric for quilts????????

 Hello I have two yards of linen fabric. It has been laundered. Has anyone used this kind of fabric in quilting. it is a beautiful lavender what to do

I would use it. I am sure many will object.

Those who would object don't really understand quilting. You can use any fabric you wish, as long as you make allowances for the needs of each type of fabric. I would use a little more seam allowance with linen, as it tends to fray more.

....Perhaps the rejection is not due to "not understanding" quilting, but rather a personal experience /choice reason.

Does that give you the right to reject it out of hand for others also? Quilting IS, after all, a personal art form. Some say you can't use silk either, but I have, and have seen others that were quite lovely.

Check out Cindy Needham's work. She uses linen frequently.

I love linen for clothes and use it a lot, I would cut seam allowances bigger and pink the edges as it does fray a lot, but apart from making that change why not? Your quilt your choice ;)

Many have used it with success and are happy.

I highly recommend you read about other quilters experiences with it before proceeding, there are many tips about what to do and what NOT to do.

The light color in this quilt is linen. I like the texture it brings to the quilt.
