WOW!!!!!! This quilt is on my "bucket list" -- I have avoided starting it because of the "Y" seams, but you just gave me courage to try it!!! Lovely quilt!!!

I admire your willingness to take on this project. I was just a fairly new quilter when I made a Texas Star from a kit at a garage sale at our guild. All of the pieces and directions were there, luckily! It turned out great, and I was really proud. Last year, our daughter decide she "had to have that quilt." Of course I weakened and said "okay." It was too small for her King S. Bed, so I actually enlarged it. It took most of the Winter, but I did it and she loves it--still!Mariah

I think I would sew 2 diamonds together at a time making 1/4th of the star, making 4 pieces, then those 2 to the next 2, making 1/4 of the star, then sew the half stars together. No y seams.. making sure to stop the 1/4" seam 1/4" from the end. The stars are beautiful!

I have never made a lone star block but here is an interesting web site you might want to look at: http://sandandsunshine.blogspot.ca/2...tar-trick.html
