Does a lot of quilting mean more shrinkage? When I did my denim quilt I had cut my backing and batting to the size of the top and there was no shrinkage. It was a quilt made out of 4" inch squares cut from old jeans and the quilting was basically just stitching a large grid so all the dark squares had an "x" going from corner to corner.

Yes, lots of quilting increases the shrinkage. If you just do a grid you should not have a problem. If you McTavish or do other micro work, you will have shrinkage.

I've also heard 4-5 inches bigger. Good luck on your quilt!

I do all my quilting myself and have never found the need for over 2 inches .....As Purplemem says it seems to be more than plenty for me also. |
