I want to do 1/2 log cabins then set on point, Will I need to adjust yardage and number of squares. I noticed that a 8 inch square set on point is 11 1/4 inches , I have NO idea how to figure this out.

Sketch it out on 1/4" graft paper. You don't say how large the quilt is going to be. So without these important facts it is difficult to know. or advise.

When you say half log what do you mean?
Original size 12"sq with new half log 6"sq?
or
half log 12"x6"?

If you look at the web site for the free pattern and my link it will show what a half log is.
