log cabin clam shell pattern

Just saw a gorgeous quilt , a clam shell pattern but in a log cabin design. I found a pattern but it gave no instructions on its assembly. Can anyone help? I just love all of the posts and learn so much from you all.
Thanking you in advance

If I recall, wide logs are used on two sides of the block and narrow strips are used on the other two sides.

Love it! I am teaching a curved log cabin workshop for my guild in April; we'll be focusing on the narrow background in one block and the wide background in another. There are innumerable ways to set these blocks. it'll be a lot of fun! I LOVE log cabins, they are THE most versatile quilts out there.:)

That's a really neat idea. Thanks for posting a link to the photo, woody. I couldn't visualise it at all before that.

the method is just like any other log cabin, it's only the shapes of the individual logs that are different. Remember, this unit is 4 sub-blocks.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. The one from Judy Holly quilts is the layout. It is a thick & thin configuration, but I just can't understand where the center starts and you go out from there. Maybe it is because I am blonde and 73. I took a picture of it at the quilt show, but I don't think I should upload because of rights. Who knows, but again thanks for all your help. Sandy
