log cabin instructions

Can anyone point me to their favorite FREE log cabin instructions? A friend talked me into making her one, and it's been years since I made my last one. Thanks!

I have several books by different authors and I use one of them to go by.
I don't know of any free patterns except for the above suggestion.

Here's something that might help you:

or this:

I've tried using random length strips and cutting after attaching each log, and I've tried precutting the logs to the right sizes. I think my precut log blocks came out a little straighter, but it took a lot more time (for me) to cut up all those logs. But then again, I was going scrappy and I didn't want any duplicate fabrics so I had to make sure I had enough of each fabric in each log size, if that makes sense, and that was time consuming!

It really does work wonderfully .... isn't that what it is for?
......and the Googler (good word, eh? :D) gets to find just what they want and not what others think they might.

I just finished using the one that wilferg suggested by Fons and Porter and I think it is the best there is. Enables a person to make the size they wish and the diagrams for the different placements of the blocks are so good. Nice easy block, just took me a long time to get all the pieces cut....then it was a breeze.
