log cabin instructions
Can anyone point me to their favorite FREE log cabin instructions? A friend talked me into making her one, and it's been years since I made my last one. Thanks!

Jenny Doan MSQC has a video on the log cabin!

I have several books by different authors and I use one of them to go by.
I don't know of any free patterns except for the above suggestion. |

Here's something that might help you:
http://www.fonsandporter.com/content...n_DECebook.pdf or this: http://www.maryquilts.com/wp-content.../Log-Cabin.pdf I've tried using random length strips and cutting after attaching each log, and I've tried precutting the logs to the right sizes. I think my precut log blocks came out a little straighter, but it took a lot more time (for me) to cut up all those logs. But then again, I was going scrappy and I didn't want any duplicate fabrics so I had to make sure I had enough of each fabric in each log size, if that makes sense, and that was time consuming! |

I agree. I find almost everything for my quilting by just Google !!
......and the Googler (good word, eh? :D) gets to find just what they want and not what others think they might. |
I just finished using the one that wilferg suggested by Fons and Porter and I think it is the best there is. Enables a person to make the size they wish and the diagrams for the different placements of the blocks are so good. Nice easy block, just took me a long time to get all the pieces cut....then it was a breeze.
