I have a friend who wants me to make her a quilt that she saw on a web site - but I can't find a pattern anywhere. It is basically a log cabin quilt with some leaf blocks in it. It could be called Autumn Splendor (there are many quilts and blocks called this) I've attached two pictures. I could make do with either pattern. Has anyone seen a pattern similar to these - if so - do you know where I could buy the pattern?
Thanks!!!

This is something like what I'm looking for

I have no idea where to get the patterns but they are both beautiful.

CAROLJ 03-15-2010 05:54 PM

I'd like to know also.

My DH loves the second quilt, I saw it on the same site about a year ago and now he wants me to make one for him. It shouldn't be too difficult but figuring out the size of the blocks has me stumped. If anyone has any ideas, I too would love to hear them. Thanks.

Both quilts are nice and I hope you are able to find the patterns.

Check out the Autumn Leaves pattern on the Eleanor Burns' website. It is for a table runner.

I just bought this pattern and there went my New Year's resolution of not buying any new patterns but I just had to have it! I like anything with leaves.

I can relate...I was in Walmart and found a bolt of panel fabric being clearance out for $2.50 for the panel...or what I thought was a fall leaf pattern wall hanging panel...turns out it's a panel for 6 placemats and I'm going to do them for my DH's godmother. I'll do a plain back on them and she can use them year-round.

Wow, I love the second one too! It doesn't look hard to just figure it out. It looks like 10 blocks wide x 12 blocks long plus borders. Looks like a queen size bed which is 60"x80" and there are a little less than 8 blocks across the top (not including the drop) so I would say that the blocks are 8"x8"? The red border looks like it's twice the width of a log cabin strip so about 4", then the last border is pretty large, maybe 8".

I would love to see a pattern for it too.

Thank you, I am not very good at guessing the sizes. I am going to try this quilt as soon as I finish the kids quilt that I am working on now.

wvdek 03-15-2010 10:52 PM

No I don't know about the pattern but they are sure pretty.

ConnieF 03-15-2010 11:02 PM

Very nice love the wall one
other is very nice but love the wall Q

gaigai 03-15-2010 11:25 PM

Looking at the second one, each block is five strips by five strips. The leaves are just squares and HST's, so that should be easy to figure out. If you want your finished block to be 10 inches, cut your strips 2.5 inches. Same for the Log Cabin. Good luck, it's a beautiful quilt!

I can't help you with the pattern but I love them!

MISHNJIM 03-16-2010 02:53 AM

Also Loving both patterns...Beautiful!!!!

raspberryparade09 03-16-2010 03:23 AM

Thanks for all the help. The suggestions are great. If I can't find a pattern, I'll use some of the tips to make my own pattern. As a couple people have pointed out, it "should" be easy enough to figure out the pattern.
Thanks - I just love this web site!

You hit that nail on the head! The leaf block is the same.....just add the log cabin blocks and there's the pattern. Great find!

I like the first one because the leaf blocks are so different. Should be easy to figure out the blocks and make it the size you want. Only problem I see is how do you figure the yardage without buying the pattern. May in Jersey

lisalovesquilting 03-16-2010 04:51 AM

There is one like you described in the Oct. 2009 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. It is pictured on the cover, so if you go to their website you could see it before ordering the magazine. I'm actually in the process of making this quilt and it has been a lot of fun. If you like it and don't want to get the magazine PM your address to me and I will send it to you.

krazy4quilts 03-16-2010 05:19 AM

I found this it will print out at 7.5

mickey 03-16-2010 06:12 AM

if you use the pattern listed on krazy4quilts post enlarge by 200% then enlarge by 135% or 136% and it will give you a pretty close 10" finished square

raspberryparade09 03-17-2010 03:14 PM

I want to thank everyone for all their help. I've ordered E. Burns pattern and ruler, which should make it easy and fast (I hope) to make the leaf squares. I have the quilt magazine with a leaf-type quilt pattern in it. I plan to draw up my own pattern, and I'll let you all know how it turns out!

Bevsie 03-17-2010 07:29 PM

Hi,

I just found the second quilt, but not the pattern. The quilt is for sale from a website called amishcountrylanes.com . It's a website for purchasing quilts done by the Amish....it's gorgeous!

Thanks, both of those quilts are very pretty, and a unique pattern. I've never seen any like that. I like them.

toucanbear 07-09-2010 10:25 AM

I haven't seen the pattern for the log cabin with leafs, but if you find it, I would love to have the leaf part of the pattern. Thanks toucanbear

jljack 07-09-2010 10:30 AM

That leaf pattern is on the www.quilterscache.com site, too. I've seen it,and printed it out, but it's at home, and I don't remember what it's called.

donnajean 07-09-2010 11:09 AM

They kind of remind me of Thimbleberries patterns. I will look through my books as soon as I get a moment.

Julie in NM 07-09-2010 11:40 AM

I've done the leaf block before and very easy..really. Here's a link to the diections for 9*9 block but easy to reduce the block down to 6*6. http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltbl...maple_leaf.htm

Log cabin bocks for the rest of the quilt are easy too. Just take time and I bet you can figure how the math. It is a gorgeous quilt. Good luck!
