You are a genius! I didn't know that and will definitely make a note of that as I love the Frixion pens. This board has saved me from disasters more times than I can count and I've learned so much from the generosity of our members in sharing their knowledge.

I knew there was a reason to keep on using these pens, in spite of all the falala about cold bringing the marks back. You have proven my point.

I almost left a queensize quilt that I had marked in the car last summer. I took it to show off, and was going to put it back in the car so that I wouldn't forget it.
Thankfully, the brain kicked in before losing all my marks! Don't have a freezer big enough for the quilt! |
I have done the same thing, but I didn't think to put it in the freezer. Good thinking!

Glad to hear it was not a disaster using the frixion pens, because I love them and would not like to hear that I would have to stop using them...

I have a quilt to mark so I can redwork embroider it....this is my first ......I was waiting to make sure I have the right pen.....so are these pens special for marking quilts.....I need to get me some.....

Then I remembered reading on this board that the marks made with Frixions reappear if the pieces are exposed to cold temps......so I put my block in the freezer, and voila! The marks are a bit faded, but they are dark enough to guide my stitiching without having to remark the entire project! :) Necessity....the mother of invention, indeed! Live and learn.

I love frixon pens too. I had a large quilt that I had many markings on. Rather than have this big, heavy thing to iron, I it n dryer for a few minutes. They all disappeared and saved me tons of work!

I was using one of those pens the marks disappear after a while, I was using it to mark the 1/4 inch when hand sewing. One day I had a brain storm and thought I would mark up a bunch and take them where ever I was going. When I got them out and not one had a mark on it I was so upset, because at first I was sure I had put the marks on the fabric, then I realized it was with the wrong pen. After that I used the pencil to mark the line.

I love the pens too. I have heard a few negative stories about them but none bad enough that will deter me from using them. You just have to be mindful of the iron when you are not finished with your markings. There were good tips among these postings. I just hope I can remember them!
