well i'll have to tell this on myself. when i was 16 and in high school, we were a very poor family and didn't have much. i owned 2 pairs of socks, i washed them by hand every other night and hung them somewhere to dry - only one time in the winter they didn't get dry, so i put them on a cookie sheet and popped them into the oven, but alas, i forgot about them and u guessed it, they burnt to a crisp. so of course i had to go without socks till i made enough money baby sitting to buy me some more. This was back during World War II and everybody was poor.

Heck, that's nothing new I did that about 40 years ago. Wall to wall, very expensive I might add. Just where you walk into the kitchen from the dinning room. I wasn't bright enough to do it in an inconspictious spot. We always kept a throw rug over it but when we sold the house I had to own up to it to the new buyers. I was embarrassed all over again.

we were ironing on the bed and set the mattress on fire, had to pour water on it to put it out, then iron it dry to sleep that night.
