Does any one here have a Lollipop for their machine? If so can you show a picture of what it looks like.
Thank you in advance.

Sadiemae 08-06-2010 08:50 AM

What is a lollipop for a machine?

sharon b 08-06-2010 08:52 AM

Ok I have to ask.. what is a lollipop ?

QuiltingWithMissy 08-06-2010 09:01 AM

I am not for sure what or how it is used. I have read of quilters using a lollipop on their machines. I googled it and all I could come up with was the candy. I want to know what it is and what it looks like.

sewcrafty 08-06-2010 09:08 AM

I never hear of it!! If any knows, inquiring minds what to know!!

ClairVoyantQuilter 08-06-2010 09:11 AM

I did a search of these forums and every lollipop reference I found related to candy :) Now I'm curious too :)

wvdek 08-06-2010 09:15 AM

Lollipop! Oh my. Never heard of it. Can't wait to see it.

mawmawbeve_60 08-06-2010 09:16 AM

franie 08-06-2010 09:40 AM

Oh I get it. It locks between the rails and allows good SID.

Sadiemae 08-06-2010 09:56 AM

What a strange name. I have one for my Fusion--it is the ruler base.

Sadiemae 08-06-2010 09:58 AM

Now I've got that stupid song stuck in my head! Thanks! >:)

justwannaquilt 08-06-2010 10:38 AM

Not trying to steal a thread but....

What is a PUCK, and a DEAD BAR? I know the dead bar goes on the frame in front of the take up bar/roller but what is its purpose?

Jeanniejo 08-06-2010 10:40 AM

I have them on 2 of my machines, didn't know that was what they were called.

I have 5 rollers or bars on my frame. The take up roller for the finished quilt and the roller below it to keep the quilt at the correct level. Then at th front of the frame there is the roller for the backing fabric, the roller for the top which is the belly bar, and I have a roller below for the batting. I don't use the roller for the batting because Molly, my poodle will roll in it and make holes. I have no idea what a PUCK is. These have some really different nicknames.

Add-on Equipment

Even though the PC Quilter can press your foot pedal of your machine, buying the speed control device called a Puck is a very worthwhile investment. It's so much easier to use, giving you finer detail and faster speed. It, also, gives you speed control at an easy-to-reach dial. The foot pedal control must be set up in the software eliminating on-the-fly changes.

Using the puck also avoids having to set the PC Quilter to deal with touchy foot pedals that are too sensitive, to stiff, too big or too small. Spring for the extra $50 to $90 right up front and save the time and hassle of upgrading to the puck a few weeks later. This is a third party product that your can get from The Machine Shop.

Sadiemae 08-06-2010 03:29 PM

That makes sense, it is kind of like the quilter's cruise control for the mega-quilter. They all have to have special names I guess.

karenchi 08-06-2010 04:28 PM

Well, I have a Bailey Quilting Machine on a Frame. I bought a
Lollipop from the dealer. It is a metal plate that you put on the sewing machine and then you can do quilting with ruler work, etc. It's used so you have more space when long arm quilting.

Interesting little thing.

nativetexan 08-06-2010 06:33 PM

lollipop can be rolls of binding fabric, not sure otherwise.

wvdek 08-06-2010 09:14 PM

Oh, thanks for clarifying. Never would have guessed.

klgreene 08-07-2010 09:14 AM

......and again, I learned something today.

Oh now I see why it's called a lollypop (I think).
It sort of looks like one with that empty rectangular space where the stick should be.

marthe brault-hunt 08-07-2010 05:31 PM

I had a good laugh when you asked about the lollipop. I' m French speaking, the first time I made a quilt from a magazine they were saying to fudge the seam. No one could help me with the meaning.

gertz 08-07-2010 06:14 PM

Pricy little dude. Does it work

treeseek quilter 08-07-2010 06:22 PM

No, no ladies, a lolly pop has a white stick with either flat candy or a ball on the end of it. You suck on it while you quilt so that you don't have to get up and leave your quilting to eat.....LOL

Annz 08-07-2010 07:03 PM

Wow This is new to me, would love to see pictures.

Karen

so, it's an extension table that gives you more space to balance a ruler or a plastic template? i think most machines have them now. it's the equivalent of the clear acrylic extension table for a regular home machine. people are building them out of wood and acrylic themselves. look at the tin lizzie yahoo group picture gallery. they sit on the sled and create extension space.

dgrindey 08-08-2010 02:31 PM

ok--what is that

butterflywing 08-08-2010 02:41 PM

http://tinlizzie2.homestead.com/Table.html

this is the one made by the tin lizzie company. it happens to be made of clear acrylic, but it works in the same way. it wraps around the base of the machine arm and gives you a balancing area. in this case, instead of it having the little bent over cleats on the bottom, it has little rubber feet.

zz-pd 08-08-2010 10:46 PM

Thank you for showing that. god bless.
