lone star question

I was given a lone star that has been pieced together, star only. I need to find out how to measure for the size of setting squares and triangles. There is no pattern with the star. If anyone can help me it would be appreciated/.

The problem with the star is the bias edges on the diamonds are probably stretched. I would carefully press and starch it and measure the 4 corner areas to see if they are remotely the same size. If the measurements are way off it would probably be easier to applique the star as is to a large background like a sheet. Good luck!

Starch before ironing press. I made this star with newbie quilters the starch is essential to stop the bias stretching. when you press.

Thanks Feather3 . I happen to have an antique quilt top that has ruffled corner squares and triangles and I was wondering how to fix.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Lone Star. It's my favorite quilt. I have Eleanor Burns pattern book (Radiant Star) to go by. I make the corner squares & Triangles larger, so I have more space beyond the end of the start points. Don't ask me how I do it, because my husband has to help me figure it out each time...I just can't get my brain (Chemo) wrapped around it. I have photos posted in the picture thread section of one I made last year. I'm working on a 2nd one. I just finished pinning it (957 pins!). I made "corner stars" on both. They are a tad confusing to do, but really add to the quilt. And the best part is I gave the 1st one to a friend in Nebraska & this one will go to a friend in Sweden. I have yet to make one for myself.

I have this pattern book on Lone Star's too:

Thank you Feather 3 for the site. I have taken apart the star points. they were just too off. I need to trim them to the same size and sew them back together. I am a little confused on how to do that.

I hope you have a log of patience. I use to draft out the dimensions of what the star section should be on some heavy wallpaper liner, then you know where your corrections need to be. You have to be so careful with all those bias edges. Good Luck!

I ended up ripping the large diamonds apart and making them the same size. Sewn back together. But now I have a bulge in the middle. This is a challenge. Help!
