long arm owners
Dear fellow quilters I'd like to know what flooring do you stand on while quilting. My new long arm will be coming soon and I want to cushion the area I will be standing on.
thanks db |
The floor itself is Pergo. I had some of those interlocking mats and put them in front of the longarm where I stand. They used to be under the treadmill, but I thought they were of more use with the longarm. There like these, but I got them many years ago, probably at Costco. https://www.amazon.com/Interlocking-.../dp/B00IBCP46E

I use a 6ft long anti fatigue mat on each side of my long arm, and one in front of my cutting table as well. It really helped! Congratulations on the new addition to your family, you’re gonna have so much fun!

Mine is on vinyl squares glued to cement in the basement. Tough on your legs and feet, much better since I added those inexpensive foam interlocking alphabet letters for kids across both front and back.

Mine is on Carpet in the basement over a cement floor. It is a little easier on my feet and legs but I find when I wear shoes, it helps.

My two long arm are on carpet. Carpet is warmer and I like to get down on the floor sometimes to lay out or photograph quilts.

My floor is cement and I use two layers of the interlocking tiles that I bought at Harbor Freight. They have been known to shift when I accidently move them. I do have to move them back together from time to time, but they are wonderful and fairly inexpensive, and totally worth their weight in gold. My feet love them.
edited to add: I have them along the entire front side and the same on the back. One layer of the tiles wasn't enough to keep my feet from hurting. |
I have a concrete floor and one layer of interlocking pads from Sears. They shifted a lot when I first put them down, but I moved the frame so that the pads are wedged between the frame legs and the wall, so no more shifting. I stil have enough elbow room to work.

I have laminate over concrete basement and then have anti-fatigue mates on both sides, including an easily movable one from Walmart in the front.

My longarm is in the living room on a hardwood floor with an area rug butted up against the front legs of the machine.
